Lena was almost asleep when her phone lit up at midnight. The message came from her aunt, who never sent messages so late. It said, “Look under the clock, but don’t wake your mother.”

At first, Lena felt nervous. The flat was quiet, and the living room looked different in the dark. She turned on a small lamp and walked to the old clock on the wall.

Under the clock, she found a white envelope with her name on it. Inside was a black-and-white photo of her mother at the age of ten, standing beside the same clock.

On the back of the photo, her aunt had written, “This is the first clue for tomorrow.” Lena remembered that her mother’s birthday was the next morning, and the strange message began to make sense.

She put the photo on the kitchen table and went back to bed. The mystery was not dangerous; it was a quiet family plan waiting for morning.
